وكل فضلٍ وإِفْضَالٍ يُرَى فلَكَا
As a celestial sphere, you have made the sun of virtues rise.
The sun of beauty has risen for you as a planet
And every excellence and act of generosity that is seen is yours.
And every virtue and favor is seen as yours

Poetry has obeyed you; so rule over it, O king.
Poetry has obeyed you, so rule it, o king
And purity of soul has said of you, 'O angel!'
And the chastity of the soul has called you, o angel

And were your fingertips to pass over parchment,
And if you pass by those who are enslaved
It would bind mankind's scribes to you in servitude.
The writers of people have been kept awake in chains for you
إِذَاif بَقِيتَyou live on وَكانand had اللهGod أَمْهَلَكاgranted you respite
إِذَا بَقِيتَ وَكان الله أَمْهَلَكا

فما تُبالِي بِمَنْ قد عاشَ أَمْ هَلَكا
If you live on and God has granted you respite,
If you remain and God gives you time
Then you care not who has lived or perished.
You would not care who has lived or perished
