ولنا صديقٌ لا يطيبُ حديثُه

ولنا صديقٌ لا يطيبُ حديثُه

ويطيلُه وكأنّه يتطوّلُ

ويطيلُه وكأنّه يتطوّلُ

And we have a friend whose talk gives no pleasure;

he prolongs it as though doing us a favor.

يأتي بقصّة يوسُفِ فإذا انتهى

يأتي بقصّة يوسُفِ فإذا انتهى

في آخرٍ منها فذاكَ الأولُ

في آخرٍ منها فذاكَ الأولُ

He tells the story of Joseph, and when he reaches

its end, that is the beginning.
