1. شكوتَ وبالشكوى إلى غير راحمٍ

    تعذَّر مني للمراد حصول

    You complained; and through complaint to one without mercy,

    attainment of the desired end proved impossible for me.

  2. وصولات قوم بالكثيرِ تقسَّمت

    لديكم وما لي وصول

    And people's charges were apportioned in abundance

    among you, while I have no access.

  3. خضبت مشيبي بالدموع فما به

    ولكن بقلبي للهمومِ نصول

    I dyed my gray hair with tears; not in it,

    but in my heart lie the blades of sorrow.
