بيت بديع النظم في أقواله
Truly spoke he among whose proverbs circulated
He who walks in righteousness speaks the truth
A beautifully composed verse among his sayings:
His words arranged with beauty, wisdom, and youth
وإذاand when امرؤٌa man أسدىbestowed إليكupon you صنيعةa favor
وإذا امرؤٌ أسدى إليك صنيعة
منthrough جاهِهِhis influence فكأنهاthen it is as though it منfrom مالهhis wealth
من جاهِهِ فكأنها من ماله
And when a man bestows a favor upon you
When another grants you kindness and grace
Through his influence, it is as though it came from his wealth.
It is as though the gift were his to replace
