أنكروا حالتي التي قد صلحتْ

بعد دهرٍ صمَّ عن عاتبه

بعد دهرٍ صمَّ عن عاتبه

They found my condition strange, now that it had improved

after an age that was deaf to its reprover.

ثم قالوا لمَ هذا قلت ذي

ثم قالوا لمَ هذا قلت ذي

صدقاتُ السرِّ من كاتبه

صدقاتُ السرِّ من كاتبه

Then they asked, “Why this?” I said, “These

are secret alms from the secret’s scribe.”
