طلبت من الميراث بعضَ الدراهم

The vizier of al-Sham slighted my request when

The minister of Damascus humiliated me when

I asked for some dirhams from the inheritance.

I asked for some coins from the inheritance

وقال اصرفوها لابن آدم كلها

وقال اصرفوها لابن آدم كلها

فأيقنت أني عنده غير آدمي

فأيقنت أني عنده غير آدمي

And he said, "Pay them all to Ibn Adam,"

And he said, "Spend it all on the son of Adam."

So I knew that, in his eyes, I was not human.

So I knew that to him, I was less than human.
