تجلَّى فيهما الرشأ الغرير

تجلَّى فيهما الرشأ الغرير

The blackness of hair around a body's whiteness—

The blackness of hair around the whiteness of body

in both, the innocent young gazelle shone forth.

In them appeared the sparkling spout

وقيل عُبيّةٌ فحلفت أني

وقيل عُبيّةٌ فحلفت أني

وكلٌّ العالمين لها فقير

وكلٌّ العالمين لها فقير

They said, “A little cloak”; so I swore that I

And it was said a female slave so I swore that I

and all the world are poor, in need of her.

And all the worlds to her are poor
