جهد الثناء فأبدى وجه معترف

Thanks for our lord’s favors, which surpassed

Thankful for the blessings of our Master who graced

praise’s utmost effort, so it showed the face of one who acknowledges.

The effort of praise so I may show a grateful face

لو لم أكن للغنى أبغي تطلبها

لو لم أكن للغنى أبغي تطلبها

طلبتها كونها نوعاً من الشرف

طلبتها كونها نوعاً من الشرف

If I were not seeking to obtain them for wealth,

Had I not been seeking wealth to gain

I would seek them because they are a kind of honor.

I'd seek it still, for it is a kind of grace
