She has, from the full moon’s brow or the bough’s stature,

beauties that may wrong us, though we do no wrong.

So if it is a bough, bending its side, bowed,

then those charms are as we praise them, and beyond our praise.

And if the poetry of the ancients flows in praise

of a sultan other than you, you are the one who enriches.

And if we perfect our panegyrics in verse, they

turn their beauty toward Sultan Hasan.

He has a reign that has surpassed every reign,

and royal servants, Bashir and Yumn among them.

So glad tidings to them and all the worlds: outcomes

that preserve the happy and destroy the wretched.

And for happiness, a physician and a panegyrist from among us suffice.

And who can match these two wise men in their art?
