قل للكرام الكاتبين من الورى
ماwhat ليwith me أجرّبI test عهدكمyour loyalty وأعودand I return
ما لي أجرّب عهدكم وأعود
Say to the noble scribes among mankind:
Tell the generous writers of the world
Why do I test your loyalty and return again?
Why do I test your loyalty and return
ماwhat ليwith me مرضتI fell ill فلمyet did not يعدنيvisit me عائدٌa visitor to the sick
ما لي مرضت فلم يعدني عائدٌ
منكمfrom among you ويمرضand falls ill كلبكمyour dog فأعودso I visit
منكم ويمرض كلبكم فأعود
Why, when I fell ill, did no visitor come to me
Why did I fall ill and no one came to visit
From among you, yet when your dog falls ill, I visit it?
Yet when your dog falls ill, I come again
