Poetic minds have been occupied with righteous prayer

By your time's diversion from the panegyrist's verse,

Through work and governance in a kingdom that saw

Your goodness and turned away from an aspirant.

No blame attaches to a pen you leveled in a realm,

If it thrusts at Arcturus, the Spear-bearer.

O master of prayers and blessings, what

Praises do you favor, and what poetic minds?

O you who prefer concealing gifts—and their concealment

Is like musk: its fragrant wafts only increase.

God knows what you conceal of prayer

And praise, through inability or fear of a spiteful foe.

I swear, O Moses of the age: he has indeed kept faith

With truth, who praised you as righteous.
