يا جاعل الجامع المعمور منتظراً

يا جاعل الجامع المعمور منتظراً

محاسناً منه في الأوصاف مبتدَعه

محاسناً منه في الأوصاف مبتدَعه

O you who make the well-frequented mosque await

O maker of the crowded mosque an expectant one,

beauties from it, newly fashioned in their qualities,

Of new beautiful descriptions from it,

تركت للشوق حرًّا في جوانحنا

تركت للشوق حرًّا في جوانحنا

فلا خلا منك لا صفّ ولا جمعه

فلا خلا منك لا صفّ ولا جمعه

you have left the heat of longing within our breasts;

You left free rein to yearning in our hearts,

so may neither prayer row nor Friday gathering ever be without you.

So no company but yours, neither row nor assembly.
