يا عاتبين ولا والله أذكرهم

يا عاتبين ولا والله أذكرهم

إلا بخيرٍ وإن مالوا عليَّ ولي

إلا بخيرٍ وإن مالوا عليَّ ولي

O reproachers! By God, I do not mention them

O you who reproach me, by God I remember them

Except well, even if they lean against me or in my favor.

Only with good, though they have turned against me

شويت يا مهجتي إن كنتُ عاتبهم

شويت يا مهجتي إن كنتُ عاتبهم

وإن وجدت لساناً قائلاً فقلي

وإن وجدت لساناً قائلاً فقلي

May you be roasted, O my heart, if I ever reproach them;

My inner self, be tolerant if I was hard on them

And if you find a tongue speaking, fry it.
