    May you enjoy it, a white robe among the robes of favor,

    telling you that life will greet you in white.

    And how lovely the green robe! When you touched it

    with your palm, we saw the rain become a meadow at once.

    And the rain is but the taylasan mantle that enfolded

    in your person, rain pouring bounty and the full moon now shining.

    فأهلاً بمن وافى وسقياً لمن مضى

    O brother of Shams—the sun—you have reminded me of Shams, a friend;

    so welcome to him who has arrived, and may rain bless him who has departed.

    By my life, your brother has indeed left in my palm

    a bounty—I have lived through the years, yet it has not run out.

    May you never cease, Sa'd al-Din, to aid Shams, the sun,

    and be granted success in a manner approved for leadership.

    فلا فرقَ بين الفرقدين ولا انْقضا

    For neither of you is other than a leader and a noble man;

    so there is no difference between the two Farqad stars, nor any end.
