سقي ابن هشام في الثرى نوء رحمةٍ

تجرّ على مثواه ذيل غمام

تجرّ على مثواه ذيل غمام

May Ibn Hisham in the earth be watered with a shower of mercy,

The son of Hisham poured tears of mercy in the earth

Trailing a cloud’s hem over his resting place.

That dragged the tail of clouds over his grave

سأروي له من سيرة المدح سيرةً

سأروي له من سيرة المدح سيرةً

فما زلت أروي سيرة ابن هشام

فما زلت أروي سيرة ابن هشام

I shall recount for him a story from the chronicles of praise,

I will narrate to him from the life story of praise a life story

For I have never ceased recounting the life story of Ibn Hisham.

For I have not stopped narrating the life story of the son of Hisham
