إن حرمت القليل من مالِ بيرو

ت على فاقتي فليسَ كثيرا

If I am denied a little of Beirut’s wealth

If you denied me but little of what’s mine in Beyrouth

despite my poverty, it is not much;

It wouldn’t be much for my poverty

إنَّ شيخ الشيوخ أيَّده الل

إنَّ شيخ الشيوخ أيَّده الل

ه رأى أنَّني أعيشُ فقيرا

indeed, the shaykh of shaykhs—may God aid him—

Indeed, the Shaykh Al Shuyukh whom God supports

has seen that I live in poverty.

Saw that I live in destitution
