I swear by your glory, O leader of our age:
I swear by your glory, O Imam of our time,
Indeed, praise poems surely triumph when they place their hopes in you.
When praises of you spring forth, for their utterer they are gainful.

You called poetry’s reward a duty owed to it,
I called the usefulness of poetry an obligation to it,
while everyone called it a prize.
While all people named it universally a prize.
