عليَّ ديون من ثناً لم أقم بها

عليَّ ديون من ثناً لم أقم بها

فيا عجباً لي في ازديادٍ من الفضل

فيا عجباً لي في ازديادٍ من الفضل

I owe debts of praise that I have not discharged;

I owe debts from praise I did not fulfill

So how wondrous that I receive ever more bounty!

So it amazes me that favor increases for me

وأعجب من ذا أنك الشمس أشرقت

وأعجب من ذا أنك الشمس أشرقت

وها أنا منها حيثما كنت في ظل

وها أنا منها حيثما كنت في ظل

And more wondrous still: you are the sun that has risen,

And more amazing than that, you shone like the sun

Yet here I am, wherever I may be, in its shade.

Yet here I am, wherever I was, in your shade
