صرفت لجود تاج الدين قصدِي

ولم أرَ بعد ذا عنه انصرافَه

ولم أرَ بعد ذا عنه انصرافَه

I directed my purpose toward Taj al-Din’s bounty,

I spent my wealth for the generosity of the crown of religion

and thereafter saw it never turn away from him.

And I have not seen after that any turning away from it

فقيل ليَ القرافة أشغلته

فقيل ليَ القرافة أشغلته

وكم بنداه قيل لي ألق رافَه

وكم بنداه قيل لي ألق رافَه

Then I was told, “Al-Qarafa has kept him busy”;

So it was said to me: Preoccupation kept him busy

and how often, through his bounty, I was told, “Bestow compassion.”

And how much was said to me: Cast off your wrapper
