أن روضاً قد استعار خلاله
The gardens' robe was embroidered, and we imagined
The gown of the gardens has been embroidered
that a meadow had borrowed his virtues.
As if a meadow borrowed its textures

أنه يفعل الجواد هلاله
And the horizon sought the heights, so we supposed
And the horizon sought the heights, so we reckoned
that the steed was fashioning its crescent.
That it mimics the noble crescent

He is the purest of mankind, beyond all doubt,

He came from his successful hunt like a full moon;
He came from his blessed hunt like a full moon
no eye had seen his equal in radiance.
That no eye has seen the like in glory

س من الخوف ما تسمَّمت غزاله
How many a gazelle he shot! Had the sun been able,
How many gazelles he shot, if possible to perceive
from fear, it would not have been named 'Gazelle' [text uncertain].
The scent, the gazelles would have been poisoned by fear

And by my life, had the wild beasts sought refuge with him,
And by my life if the deer sought refuge in him
he would have turned back his arrows even after they had flown.
It would relax after the arrows lost their zeal
