تصدَّق برفدٍ على السائلي

ن ما كانَ يمكن رفد جميل

Give to the beggar though but little it be,

For what thou canst give is fair charity;

ولا تأمننَّ عروض الزمان

فإنَّ الزمان فعول فعول

Trust not to the morrow, for who knows thy fate!

The days are but meters - now long, and now short.
