غدا فيكَ قلبي أحمديّ صبابة

غدا فيكَ قلبي أحمديّ صبابة

فإحراقه بالنار منكَ عجيب

فإحراقه بالنار منكَ عجيب

For you, my heart became Aḥmadī in its ardent longing;

My heart has become Ahmad-like in its ardent longing for you;

so for you to burn it with fire is wondrous indeed.

so your burning it with fire is strange.

ولحظك سهمٌ لا يردُّ فحبَّذا

ولحظك سهمٌ لا يردُّ فحبَّذا

للحظك سهمٌ في الحشا ونصيب

للحظك سهمٌ في الحشا ونصيب

Your glance is an arrow that cannot be turned aside—how welcome

And your glance is an arrow none can repel—how welcome

the arrow—and allotted share—your glance has within my vitals!

are the arrow and the share your glance has within the heart!

ويا عاذِلي إنِّي لنقلك صابرٌ

ويا عاذِلي إنِّي لنقلك صابرٌ

وإنِّي مقيمٌ ما أقام عسيب

وإنِّي مقيمٌ ما أقام عسيب

O you who blame me, I patiently bear the words you repeat;

And O my reproacher, I patiently endure your tale-bearing;

and I shall remain so long as Mount ʿAsīb stands.

and I remain as long as Asib stands.

غريب غرام في غريبِ محاسنٍ

غريب غرام في غريبِ محاسنٍ

وكلُّ غريبٍ للغريب نسيب

وكلُّ غريبٍ للغريب نسيب

Made a stranger by love amid the wondrous strangeness of your beauties—

A strange passion amid strange beauties;

and every stranger is kindred to a stranger.

and every stranger is kin to a stranger.
