At the most auspicious of times comes one who has
A pen for a staff, through which al-Sham has become secure.
تقولyou say لهاتيكَto that العصابةthe band لوif وفتit kept faith
تقول لهاتيكَ العصابة لو وفت
فراعنةpharaohs الكتَّابthe scribes قدindeed جاءَكمhe has come to you موسىMoses
فراعنة الكتَّاب قد جاءَكم موسى
You would say to that band, were it faithful:
“O pharaohs of the scribes, Moses has come to you!”
