And I have a friend whom good fortune has changed;

I had a friend whom fortune did transform,

So, after our close companionship, I could scarcely meet him.

After our communing, I could hardly find him.

أرى الشهب في الدنيا يؤثر سعدها

أرى الشهب في الدنيا يؤثر سعدها

وهذا شهابٌ أثرت فيه دنياه

وهذا شهابٌ أثرت فيه دنياه

I see the shooting stars' auspicious power influencing the world;

I see stars in this world prefer its joy;

Yet this Shihab has been influenced by his worldly fortune.

This shooting star's own world I did impact.
