جسمي به من قبل شهري انسلخ
A white blaze spreads across the horizon's brow;
The horizon's coquettishness is a dazzling whiteness
my body was flayed by it before my month was out.
My body shed its skin months ago

The hair on our bodies stood on end because of it,
The hair on our bodies stood on end
with a bluish tint—woe from it: 'peaches' [sense unclear].
With blueness - oh the woe of it - bent

As though I were an oven poker, then,
As if I were a furnace poker
they said, 'The snow's dough has splatted on the ground!'
They said the frost dough in the ground - mashed

How much does the frost spit on a beard
and how often thunder says to one's face, 'Ugh!'
And how much does thunder say in the face - Hush!

because of it, and how often it scatters as lebbekh does!
Of it and how it scatters the sprinkling of crumbs

How much it foretold snow when it came
like a stone cast aside before transformation!
Like a discarded stone before petrification

How many a trace of fires, when it feeds
How much the trace of fire when it grazes
on snow, makes its water flow before any pouring!
The snow, its water flowing before melting

Did it repeat in its days the word 'drip'

How many nights whitened with snow and how much
ink of night's wing was effaced by its radiance!
Ink of its wings after being soaked

The heavenly bodies battered us with it from above,
The celestial bodies above us clinked with it
and a crushing blow from us swept the horizons.
And around the horizons from us it slid

And it entered our ears as an uninvited guest,
And it passed violently in our ears
as though wrenching rancid grime out of them.
As if it were plucking twigs from them

I have no strength at the gate of snow,
I have no power with the door of snow
and fear of it has taken root in my liver.
And its fear of my liver has taken root

That dispels what disintegrated from the base

When shall I see the morning rainclouds' collar split open,
When will I see the pocket of clouds burst open
and my chicks' terror dispelled before it?
And the chicks take fright in it - hatched

huddled in the house for fear of him;
They huddled in the house in fear of it
so the house—or its versifier—is a heap in a snare.
So the house or its arranger is a bird trap

They returned with Ahmad's bounty, and sought
They returned with Ahmed's blessing, so they took

From it to repel the snow, easy customs

Master of the lofty pen, in life-giving rain or eminence—
The one with the lofty pen, alive or sublime
oh, what a bough he is, whether bending near or towering!
Oh what a branch he lowered or towered!

His servant did not yield from its abundance

Opposed its east a dress of fringe, mew?

Your boiling mind like a relaxed bow

So it is; among the people is one endowed with strength,
This one has power over the people
but only Shaykh Adi is a true shaykh.
And yet the sheikh Adi is just a sheikh
