I replied, “That brings no comfort.
So I said, “That brings no solace.
هذاthis الزُّمرّدemerald حقَّاtruly
هذا الزُّمرّد حقَّا
ماnot ذيthese حوائجwares بقليa greengrocer
ما ذي حوائج بقلي
This is emerald indeed—
This is truly emerald,
these are no greengrocer’s wares.”
