Through your glory, al-ʿAliyya’s fortress gained glory and rose high.

The fortress of Aliya grows prouder still with your pride

Until its towers came to mirror the constellations of heaven.

Until its towers begin to tell of the towers of heaven

حصن جعلتهُ لشدات الدهر معصما

حصن جعلتهُ لشدات الدهر معصما

لا زال سوره سوار وأنت له معصما

لا زال سوره سوار وأنت له معصما

A fortress you made a refuge against the hardships of time.

A fortress you have made as protection from time's calamities

May its wall ever remain a bracelet, and you its wrist.

Its walls remain a bracelet, you being its armlet
