O sword of resolve, your stroke has cleft the enemies' heads.
O sword of resolute will that splits the neck of the foe,
May God never leave your dwelling empty among companions.
May God never deprive the comrades of your mighty blows,
عذَّبتَyou tormented بالبينwith separation طرفاًan eye ظالماunjust قرَّبكbrought you near
ماhow أبعدكfar you are منيfrom me وماand how أقربكclose you are
With separation, you tormented an unjust eye that brought you near.
You have tormented an unjust eye with separation, drawing you near,
Alas! How far you are from me, and how close!
Alas, how far you are from me, and yet how near!
