لما نهج النوى بالسير شدَّيتم
جفنيmy eyelid عنfrom النومsleep بالأهدابwith the eyelashes شدّيتمyou bound

Homeward bound the camel litters bear

إليَّ يا ليت بعد الصبر وديتم
And by God's bewilderment—oh, the day you turned away from me!
An ye have left me, would that ye were here
If only, after patient waiting, you had sent [word] to me.
