أَسَجاياwhat virtues! كَماas تَرِقُّis delicate المُدامَهthe wine
وَعَطاياand gifts كَماas تُريقُpours forth الغَمامَهthe raincloud
What virtues, as delicate as wine,
My aspirations soar like the glimmer of wine
and gifts poured forth as a raincloud pours,
And my gifts flow like the pouring rain
وَهُجومٌand an onslaught عَلَيهِupon it غُرَّةُa bright blaze نَصرٍof victory
وَنُجومٌand a rising عَلَيهِupon it بُشرىglad tidings سَلامَهof safety
and an onslaught bearing victory's bright blaze,
Victory rushes upon him in a surprise attack
and a rising bearing glad tidings of safety!
The stars shine good tidings of his safety
فَهَفاso it yearned النَصلُthe blade أَنthat تُناطَbe hung ظُباهُits cutting edges
وَتَلاand followed النَصرُvictory أَنthat يَسُلَّhe unsheathe حُسامَهhis keen sword
So the blade yearned to have its edges hung,
The sword is too noble to be sheathed
and victory followed the drawing of his keen sword.
Victory is too proud to unsheathe its blade

O Abu Bakr, how many a maiden favor of yours
Oh Abu Bakr, so many deeds to your name
has demanded that gratitude's seal be broken!
Gratitude yearns to conclude by singing your praises
طَوَّقَتنيit collared me وَكُنتُand I was غَيرَnot مُحَلّىadorned

It collared me, though I had been unadorned,
You gifted me though I was undeserving
so I sang praises like a dove.
So I return the favor by singing your praises like a dove
فَاِركُضِso spur الدَهرَTime سابِحاًas a swift steed وَاِنتَضِand unsheathe المِقdestiny (word begins)
دارَdestiny (word completes) سَيفاًas a sword وَاِستَصحِبِand take along السَعدَgood fortune لامَهas armor
So spur Time as a swift steed, and unsheathe
Run through time swimmingly and straighten the twisted road
destiny as a sword, and take good fortune as armor.
March onward sword in hand with fortunate companions
