What harm is it to one who wears a ring like this
The wearer of a ring like it suffers no harm
if no wicks need be kindled when darkness comes?
from lighting no wicks in the darkness.

Aglow—the ornament's wearer infected it with his radiance,
Radiant, it caught its glow from the jewel's wearer,
and so it rose in majesty and gained yet more beauty,
so it rose in majesty and gained in beauty,

bearing a pleasing gemstone and a band
the gem from an ember that blazed, the band from water that flowed—
of a blazing ember and flowing water,

in a palm fashioned as a heaven of generosity;
in a palm created as a sky of generosity,
there the pair came together: a star and a crescent.
so the two were paired there—a star and a crescent.
