يا أَيُّها الطَودُ المَنيعُ الأَيهَمُ

يا أَيُّها الطَودُ المَنيعُ الأَيهَمُ

يا أَيُّها البَطَلُ الكَمِيُّ المُعلَمُ

يا أَيُّها البَطَلُ الكَمِيُّ المُعلَمُ

O you impregnable, pathless mountain!

O you firm, tall, and splendid mountain,

O hero, armored warrior bearing battle insignia!

O you perfect, brave, and glorious hero,

ها أَنَّ لي عِندَ اللَيالي حاجَةً

ها أَنَّ لي عِندَ اللَيالي حاجَةً

بَعُدَت مَنالاً وَاللَيالي تَكؤُمُ

بَعُدَت مَنالاً وَاللَيالي تَكؤُمُ

Behold, I have a request to make of the nights;

I have a need in the nights that has become

it lies far beyond reach, and the nights stand in the way.

Unattainable, while the nights are getting darker,

وَالفَضلُ يَأبى أَن تَفوتَ لُبانَةٌ

وَالفَضلُ يَأبى أَن تَفوتَ لُبانَةٌ

وَأَبو مُدافِعٍ الشَفيعُ الأَكرَمُ

وَأَبو مُدافِعٍ الشَفيعُ الأَكرَمُ

And generosity will not let a cherished wish go unfulfilled,

Excellence refuses an opportunity to be missed,

and Abu Mudafiʿ is the most generous intercessor.

The interceder and most generous defender.

فَاِمنُن بِها يَدَ نِعمَةٍ يُزهى بِها

فَاِمنُن بِها يَدَ نِعمَةٍ يُزهى بِها

مِن غِرَّةٍ هَذا الزَمانُ الأَدهَمُ

مِن غِرَّةٍ هَذا الزَمانُ الأَدهَمُ

So grant it—a hand of kindness, a source of pride,

So bestow it with a hand of blessing to be adorned with it

a white blaze upon the brow of this jet-black age.

From the innocence of this miserable time,

وَاِسلَم بِمُعتَرِكِ الفَوارِسِ وَالظُبى

وَاِسلَم بِمُعتَرِكِ الفَوارِسِ وَالظُبى

تَحني قِراعاً وَالعَوالي تُحطَمُ

تَحني قِراعاً وَالعَوالي تُحطَمُ

And may you remain safe in the horsemen’s fray, while the sword-blades

And submit to the battlefield of knights and wild beasts

bend under blows and the lances are shattered.

Bending its necks while the highlands are crushed.
