قالَت وَقَد حَطَّتِ العُنوانَ جَوهَرَةً

قالَت وَقَد حَطَّتِ العُنوانَ جَوهَرَةً

عَن مُرتَقى رُتبَةٍ قَد سَنَّها الأُوَّلُ

عَن مُرتَقى رُتبَةٍ قَد سَنَّها الأُوَّلُ

Jawhara said, having lowered the superscription

She said, whilst she lowered her aim down a rank,

from the lofty rank the ancients had established:

From a status first ones had established -

لاغَروَ إِن صِرتُ تَحتَ الخَتمِ واقِعَةً

لاغَروَ إِن صِرتُ تَحتَ الخَتمِ واقِعَةً

إِنَّ الجَواهِرَ تَحتَ الخَتمِ تُحتَمَلُ

إِنَّ الجَواهِرَ تَحتَ الخَتمِ تُحتَمَلُ

“No wonder if I lie beneath the seal;

No wonder, if I become under the seal fallen,

for jewels are borne beneath the seal.”

For gems under the seal are to be expected.
