غَيريsomeone other than me مَنone who يَعتَدُّcounts مِنamong أُنسِهِhis delight
غَيري مَن يَعتَدُّ مِن أُنسِهِ
مانالَwhat he has gained مِنfrom ساقٍa cupbearer وَمِنand from كَأسِهِhis cup
مانالَ مِن ساقٍ وَمِن كَأسِهِ
It is someone other than me who counts among his convivial pleasures
It is another, not I, who counts among his delights
what he has gained from a cupbearer and from his own cup.
what he has gained from a cupbearer and from his cup.
وَشَأنُand the way مِثليone like me أَنto يُرىbe seen خالِياًalone
وَشَأنُ مِثلي أَن يُرى خالِياً
بِنَفسِهِwith himself يَبحَثُsearches عَنfor نَفسِهِhimself
بِنَفسِهِ يَبحَثُ عَن نَفسِهِ
And the way of one like me is to be seen alone,
And the way of one like me is to be seen alone,
by himself, searching for himself.
with himself, searching for himself.
