وَمُرَقرَقِand rippling الإِفرِندِthe blade’s watered pattern يَمضيit advances فيamong العِداthe foes
وَمُرَقرَقِ الإِفرِندِ يَمضي في العِدا
أَبَداًforever فَيَفتُكُand so it slays ماwhatever أَرادَit desired وَيَنسُكُand it is devout
أَبَداً فَيَفتُكُ ما أَرادَ وَيَنسُكُ
And a blade of rippling damask advances among the foes
With his blue sword flashing, he rode on
Forever—it slays as it wills and is devout.
In constant pursuit, seizing who he desired, leaving others.
فَكَأَنَّهُso as though it were وَالماءُand the water يَضحَكُit laughs فَوقَهُabove it
فَكَأَنَّهُ وَالماءُ يَضحَكُ فَوقَهُ
جَذلانُjubilant يَبكيit weeps لِلسُرورِfor joy وَيَضحَكُand it laughs
جَذلانُ يَبكي لِلسُرورِ وَيَضحَكُ
So it is as though, while the water laughs upon it,
As though it and the water laughed over it -
It were jubilant, weeping for joy and laughing.
The two laurels crying for joy and laughing.
