أَرىI see الأَرضَthe earth تُثنيpraises بِالنَباتِthrough vegetation عَلىin praise of الحَياthe rain
وَلَوand if تَستَطيعُit could النُطقَspeech خَصَّتكَit would single you out بِالحَمدِfor praise
I see the earth praising the rain through its vegetation;
I see the earth adorned with vegetation
And if it could speak, it would single you out for praise.
If it could speak, it would praise you
فَلوfor if لَمnot تُعَلِّمtaught كَفُّكَyour hand السُحُبَthe clouds النَدىgenerosity (also dew)
لَماthen they would not أَنجَدَتhave given aid مِنfrom قَحطِthe drought of أَعوامِهاits years الجُردِbarren
For had your hand not taught the clouds generosity,
If your palm had not taught the clouds to rain
They would not have rescued the earth from the drought of its barren years.
It would not have been saved from the barren years
بِكَthrough you اِفتَرَّتِsmiled الأَيّامُthe days عَنrevealing ناجِذِthe back tooth of الغِنىprosperity
وَغَرَّدَand warbled طَيرُthe bird of العَيشِlife فيin الزَمَنِthe time الرَغدِof ease
Through you, the days have smiled, baring prosperity’s back tooth,
Through you, days excel in bounty
And the bird of life has warbled in a time of ease.
And the birds of livelihood chirp in prosperous times
وَفيand in كُلِّevery يَومٍday أَنتَyou مُظهِرُone who reveals آيَةٍa sign

And every day you reveal a sign
And every day you manifest a sign
That brings a miracle beyond the furthest bound.
That comes with a miracle beyond limit
عَهِدناwe have known مُدودَthe floodwaters of الأَرضِthe earth تَأتيreach بِحارَهاtheir seas
وَلَمand not نَرَwe have seen بَحراًa sea قَطُّever سارَtraveled إِلىto مَدِّa flood
We have known the earth’s floodwaters to reach their seas,
We are used to the earth bringing its seas
Yet never have we seen a sea travel to a flood.
But we never saw a sea that flowed to shore
