ومانحي كدر الصدود

O you who deny me the purity of union,

O withholder of the sweetness of union

And grant me the murk of rejection,

And giver of the bitterness of separation

ما ضاقت الدنيا عليَّ

ما ضاقت الدنيا عليَّ

وقد حوت أنف السديد

وقد حوت أنف السديد

The world has not grown too narrow for me,

The world has not become constricted for me

For it has contained al-Sadid’s nose.
