to our former life and those snares,

blossoms glistening with dew, in pairs and singly,

and a day upon the dune's back, and another

on the valley's bank, with its delightful watering places—

youth's hunting grounds of delight—ah, for youth!

And may rain greet the traces of those hunting grounds.

So if treacherous time grants their like,

then I shall not be ungrateful for what it freely gives.
