كَماjust as رَناgazed فيin الدُجُنَّةِthe gloom الأَسَدُthe lion
I see them both shining forth in the darkness,

فِعلُthe act of اِمرئa man فيin جُفونِهِhis eyelids رَمَدُeye inflammation

A man's deeds are like dust in his eyelids
فاِبتزَّهُthen robbed him الدهرُtime نورَthe light of واحدةٍone eye

and has anyone escaped its vicissitudes?
Did anyone escape its twists and turns?
