  1. للّهِ تحقيق الُهمامِ المولى

    إِذ جُلتُه في خاطري فَاُحلولا

    How admirable the noble master's rigorous inquiry!

    When I turned it over in my mind, it grew sweet.

  2. فاقَ الأوائلَ فهمُه فتقاصَرَتْ

    منه الأواخرُ من طريقِ الأوْلى

    His understanding surpassed the ancients; thus fell short

    of him the later scholars—all the more so.
