هِلال لاحَ أم شِبْلٌ تبدّي

هِلال لاحَ أم شِبْلٌ تبدّي

أم النَّجْلُ الذي وافى مجدا

أم النَّجْلُ الذي وافى مجدا

Has a crescent appeared, or has a lion cub come into view?

Is it a crescent moon that appeared

Or the son who has arrived in glory?

Or glory that reached its zenith?

كريمُ مُسْتفادٌ من كريمٍ

كريمُ مُسْتفادٌ من كريمٍ

يفوق على الورى فخراً ومجْدا

يفوق على الورى فخراً ومجْدا

A noble child sprung from a noble man,

A generous man, benefiting from the generous

Who surpasses humankind in honor and glory.

Excelling over the world in pride and glory

لقد ملاّكَهُ ربّي بخيرٍ

لقد ملاّكَهُ ربّي بخيرٍ

وقَلّدهُ من التوفيق عِقْدَا

وقَلّدهُ من التوفيق عِقْدَا

My Lord has indeed granted you blessed joy in him,

My Lord has endowed him with goodness

And adorned him with a necklace of divine favor.

And granted him success and leadership

أتى تأريخه في بيت شعرٍ

أتى تأريخه في بيت شعرٍ

أنار نسيجه فكري وأسْدا

أنار نسيجه فكري وأسْدا

His chronogram was given in a line of verse;

His date came in a line of poetry

My thought illumined its weave and laid its warp:

Enlightening my thoughts and intentions

بجدِّكَ جاءك المولود جَدّاً

بجدِّكَ جاءك المولود جَدّاً

وأرجو أن تراه أباً وجَدّا

وأرجو أن تراه أباً وجَدّا

Through your good fortune, the newborn came to you as a blessing,

Through your excellence this newborn came highly esteemed

And I hope you will see him a father and a grandfather.

And I hope to see him become a father and grandfather
