بَكَرتْcame early in the morning عليَّto me رسالةٌa letter
بَكَرتْ عليَّ رسالةٌ
دارِينُDārīn ترويrecounts النَشْرَthe fragrance عنهاfrom it
دارِينُ تروي النَشْرَ عنها
A letter came to me early in the morning;
Dārīn recounts fragrance on its authority.
تحكيresembles الشَمَالَthe north wind معwith الشَمولِwine
تحكي الشَمَالَ مع الشَمولِ
أوor الصَباthe east breeze إِنif لمnot تكنهاit is that very breeze
أو الصَبا إِن لم تكنها
It resembles the north wind together with wine,
or the east breeze, if it is not that very breeze.
وافَتarrived بكلِّwith every غريبةٍmarvel
وافَت بكلِّ غريبةٍ
فحمدتُso I praised حُسْنَthe beauty الودِّof affection منهاfrom it
فحمدتُ حُسْنَ الودِّ منها
It arrived bearing every marvel,
so I praised the beauty of its affection.
أهدَىbestowed ليon me الروضَthe garden المفوّthe brocaded (word continues)
أهدَى لي الروضَ المفوّ
فcompletion of “brocaded” طيبَthe fragrance مسراهاof its passage وأنهىand conveyed
ف طيبَ مسراها وأنهى
The brocaded garden was bestowed on me
by the fragrance of its passage, and conveyed to me.
