أيراق ما بين البيوت دمي

Tell the men of the clan of Salm:

Is my blood to be shed among the houses?

حاولت زورتكم فحل لكم

قتليَ في حتفي سعى قدمي

I sought to visit you, and it became lawful for you

To kill me; my foot hastened toward my doom.

ومتيم أصمته أسهمكم

ومتيم أصمته أسهمكم

لم يدر يوم النفر كيف رُمي

لم يدر يوم النفر كيف رُمي

And a lovesick man, whom your arrows slew,

Did not know, on the day of departure, how he was shot.

كلفتموه الصبر بعدكم

كلفتموه الصبر بعدكم

وأحلتموه به على عدمِ

وأحلتموه به على عدمِ

You demanded patience of him after you left,

And referred him to nothingness for it.
