The Sun of Learning has grown radiant in her splendor,
The sun of knowledge has lent beauty with her splendor,
when she illumined the heaven of knowledge and letters.
When she illuminated the sky of learning and literature.

She gleams from the orient of letters, in a firmament
She gleams from the rising-place of letters in a celestial sphere
with Ibrahim alone for its pole.
Whose only pole is Ibrahim.
كانهاas though she وهيwhile she is بكرa maiden فيin محاسنهاher charms
كانها وهي بكر في محاسنها
تفترsmiles عنrevealing لؤلؤpearls رطبmoist وعنand revealing شنبcool sweetness of the mouth
تفتر عن لؤلؤ رطب وعن شنب
She seems, a maiden in the freshness of her charms,
As though she—a maiden in her beauty—
to smile, revealing dewy pearls and the cool sweetness of her teeth.
Were smiling, revealing moist pearls and sweet coolness.
