لنا النجدة والبأس

وفينا العز والمنعه

Ours are valor and might,

and in us are honor and unassailable strength.

وفي الحرب لنا دين

مبين ظاهر الشرعه

And in war we have a creed,

clear, with a manifest law.

نحيي طلعة الموت

إذا ما شاهت الطلعه

We greet the face of death

when that face turns hideous.

وما سالت على ميت

لنا يوم الوغى دمعه

And over no fallen man has flowed

a tear of ours on the day of battle.

ونبكيه بذي الرونق

في صهوة ذي الميعه

And we mourn him with the gleaming blade,

in the saddle of a swift steed.

قتلنا الدهر بالهيجا

ء تتلو الوقعة الوقعه

We slew Time in battle,

battle following battle.

الا لله ابطال

يحامون جناق قلعه

Behold, God has heroes

who defend Çanakkale.

فكم قد جرعوا الأعدا

ء من كأس الردى جرعه

For how often they have made the enemies drink

a draught from the cup of death!

سل الخامس من ما

رت بتلك السفن السبعة

Ask the fifth of March

about those seven ships.

رمينا كل طرّاد

عليه اسبغوا درعه

We fired upon every cruiser

that they had clad in full armor.

حطمنا درعه حطماً

فاهوى راكباً ردعه

We shattered its armor utterly,

and it plunged headlong,

صريعاً تحمد الحيتان

منه تلكم الصرعه

laid low, with the fish praising

that downfall of its.

باسطولهم فروا

فلا كرّ ولا رجعه

With their fleet they fled,

with no renewed attack and no return.

وان عادوا إلى الحرب

فما في عودنا بدعه

And if they return to war,

there is nothing novel in our returning.

وفي الألمان آساد

أولوا باس ذووا منعه

And among the Germans are lions,

men of might and unassailable strength.

فقد قاموا مع النمسا

بحرب الدّول التسعه

For they stood alongside Austria

in war against the nine powers.

وقد عز بنا الحلف

فاضحى باذخ التلعه

And through us the alliance grew mighty,

so its crest now towers high.

سل الروس فكم رعنا

حماهم بالردى روعه

Ask the Russians how often we terrified

their domains with the terror of death!

صدعنا الفيلق الضخم

ولمّا يشعبوا صدعه

We split apart the massive corps,

and they have not yet mended its breach.

رأوا جيشا عليهم با

لمنايا عاقداً نقعه

They saw an army bearing down upon them,

entwining its cloud of dust with death.

وللأعداء اترعنا

كؤوس الموت بالترعة

And for the enemies we filled to the brim

cups of death at the canal.

فبشر ساكني مصر

بنيل المجد والرفعه

So give Egypt's inhabitants glad tidings

of attaining glory and exaltation.

جمال قائد الفيلق

يزجى قطعة قطعه

Jamal, commander of the corps,

drives it forward, unit by unit.

سواء هو والسيف الص

صنيع الباهر الصنعه

He and the sword are alike,

well-wrought, dazzling in craftsmanship.

فكل مرهف الحدّ

وكل ساطع اللمعه

So each has a finely honed edge,

and each shines with radiant luster—

نذير الانكليزيين

أهل المكر والخدعه

a warning to the English,

men of guile and deceit,

إذا صال سليمان

وعبى لهم جمعه

when Sulayman charges

and arrays his host against them.

اتتنا دعوة الحرب

فاصغي كلنا سمعه

The call to war came to us,

so every one of us lent his ear:

هتاف ملأ الأرض

جميعاً بقعة بقعه

a cry that filled the earth

everywhere, place by place,

بإعلان جهاد أي

قظ الإسلام من هجعه

with a proclamation of jihad that

awakened Islam from slumber.

هو الإعلان في الأ

نفس لا الإعلان في الرقعه

It is the proclamation within

souls, not the proclamation on paper.

وللبصرة سارت علما

ء الدين والشرعه

And to Basra marched the scholars

of religion and sacred law.

ولما سقط المجد المعلى

جذبوا ضبعه

And when exalted glory fell,

they pulled it up by the arm.

وفي الموت على دين

الهدى قامت لهم بيعه

And in dying in the faith

of guidance, a pledge was established for them.

هو النور الألهي

فما تطفى له شمعه

It is the divine light,

so no candle of its is extinguished.

هلال النصر مرفوع

تولى ذو العلى رفعه

The crescent of victory is raised;

the Exalted One has undertaken to raise it.
