فاقامواso they brought on ليfor me القيامهthe Resurrection
فاقاموا لي القيامه
They displayed their slender-waisted figures,
and brought the Day of Resurrection upon me.
كلevery مياسswaying beauty يهزsways
كل مياس يهز
التيهpride والدّلand coquetry قوامهhis figure
التيه والدّل قوامه
Every swaying beauty—what sways
his figure is pride and coquetry.
ثغرهhis mouth درّpearls نضيدneatly arrayed
ثغره درّ نضيد
ابدعmade exquisite الحسنBeauty نظامهits arrangement
ابدع الحسن نظامه
His mouth is neatly arrayed pearls;
Beauty made their arrangement exquisite.
والذيand what سميis called ريقاsaliva
والذي سمي ريقا
هوit is شهدhoney ومدامهand wine
هو شهد ومدامه
And what is called saliva
is honey and wine.
انحلmade waste away الجسمthe body بجفنwith an eyelid
انحل الجسم بجفن
نحلwasted الصبthe lovesick lover سقامهits languor
نحل الصب سقامه
He made the body waste away with an eyelid
whose languor wasted the lovesick lover.
فاتقso beware الحتفdeath منfrom الطرthe gaze (first part)
فاتق الحتف من الطر
ف(completes 'the gaze') إذاwhen سلunsheathes حسامهits sword
ف إذا سل حسامه
So beware death from the gaze
when it unsheathes its sword.
