The heart yearns for a place of wealth

Yet the eye glimpses nothing but dust.

ألا أيها القلبُ هذا زمانٌ

يُباع الكريمُ ولا يُشترى

يُباع الكريمُ ولا يُشترى

Take heed, O heart: this is an age

Oh heart, this is an age

In which the noble one is sold but not bought.

When the noble are sold and cannot be bought

أرى ربعك اليوم قد انكروك

أرى ربعك اليوم قد انكروك

ومن عادة الناس أن تنكرا

ومن عادة الناس أن تنكرا

I see your people have disowned you today,

I see your own people deny you today

And it is people's habit to disown you.

And it is the way of people to deny

فإما الشعور بما يشعرون

فإما الشعور بما يشعرون

وإلا فإيَاك أن تشعرا

وإلا فإيَاك أن تشعرا

So either feel what they feel,
