So long as my Lord is my helper and my refuge,

I shall seek His help against the steel.

And I shall seek His help against their illusions,

And all they have expended to seize control.

They said, "The wall!" I said, "To us, it is less grievous

    Than a kinsman's injustice and a neighbor's oppression."

They said, "Of steel!" I said, "And what

Does that mean before the valor of the peerless?"

I do not fear their wall, for in my Creator

Is my refuge from them and from what they have contrived.

Arabness is harsher to me than the wall:

It struck my two hands with its keen-edged sword.

It traced a question on the mouth of the wounds

About our beloved Jerusalem and about Baghdad,

About Gaza of heroes—how it became

A prison besieged by the hearts of my executioners.

Why have some sons of Arabness given precedence

To saving my enemies over saving me?

    فإذا بهم أعْدَى منَ الشُّذَّاذِ

    I had known the outcasts among the Jews to be the enemies;

Yet behold, they are more hostile than the outcasts.

And does he not fear God, the one who is harsh toward

The frailty of elders and the tenderness of children?

Where are kinship and neighborliness, and where is the one

Who upholds the one for us and safeguards the other?

O nation of Islam, O its billion people,

And will your cloud not bestow a drizzle?

Say with me to the aggressor and his agent,

And to whoever lives by the nature of servility:

The wall falls before the resolve of Mus'ab,

And before the determination of Mu'awwadh and Mu'adh.
