I marvel at one whose glance has bewitched me with its magic;
I marveled at one whose glance bewitched me with its magic,
And whose face surpasses the full moon on the midmonth night;
And a face that outshines the full moon at midmonth,

In his estrangement, his twin temple-locks are like scorpions;
And a temple-lock, like scorpions during his estrangement,
But in union with the beloved, they are the wāws of his tenderness.
And, in union with the lovesick lover, like the linking wāw letters of his affection.
