God is greatest! My certainty in you has grown.

God is Greatest, certainty in You increased in me

Through you I ask the generous Lord to protect me.

In You I ask the Bountiful Master for my certainty

رام العدى إطفاء نورك في الورى

واللَه يأبى أن تصاب بعَينِ

واللَه يأبى أن تصاب بعَينِ

The foes sought to extinguish your light among humankind,

The enemy intended extinguishing Your light in the world

but God refuses to let you be struck by an evil eye.

But God refuses that You be stricken by an eye

نصبوا الحبال وقامروا بعصيّهم

نصبوا الحبال وقامروا بعصيّهم

واتَوا بكيدٍ في القلوب كمينِ

واتَوا بكيدٍ في القلوب كمينِ

They set up ropes and gambled with their staves,

and came with a plot lurking in their hearts.

وعصاكَ تَلقَفُ كلّ ما أفِكوا به

فلذاك صاروا ساجدين لحين

And your staff swallows all they used for deception;

And Your staff picks up everything they untied with it

so they fell prostrate for a time—

So for that they became prostrating for a time

من كلّ جوّاظٍ له عرض القِفا

من كلّ جوّاظٍ له عرض القِفا

علَمٍ كثير النفخ غير سمين

علَمٍ كثير النفخ غير سمين

among them every arrogant brute with a broad nape,

From every coward who has the width of the rear

a notable, much puffed up yet not fat.

A flag that is blown up a lot but not robust

ظنّ الخذول بأن تُنال بحيلة

ظنّ الخذول بأن تُنال بحيلة

كلاّ ففيك اللَه لا يخزيني

كلاّ ففيك اللَه لا يخزيني

The faithless one thought you could be harmed by a ruse.

The fainthearted thought that through a trick

Never! For God will not put me to shame through you.

No, in You is God, He will not humiliate me

أنّي تُصاب بكيده ويداك قد

أنّي تُصاب بكيده ويداك قد

فاقت بنائلها على البحرَين

فاقت بنائلها على البحرَين

How could you be struck by his plotting, when your two hands have

That I would be stricken by his plot and Your hands have

surpassed the two seas with their bounty?

Surpassed their reach, over both seas

ولك المكارم والشمائل في الورى

ولك المكارم والشمائل في الورى

طابت شذاً كالطيب من دارين

طابت شذاً كالطيب من دارين

And yours are noble deeds and qualities among humankind,

And Yours are the noble deeds and traits in the world

sweetly fragrant, like perfume from Darin.

Pure essences, like perfume from two abodes

ومآثر ومفاخرٌ مقصورة

ومآثر ومفاخرٌ مقصورة

يا ابن الكرام عليك بالتعيين

يا ابن الكرام عليك بالتعيين

And glorious deeds and honors are reserved,

And feats and prides restricted

O son of noble men, for you alone.

O son of the generous, upon You be the appointment

أصبحت كنزاً للفقير وملجأً

أصبحت كنزاً للفقير وملجأً

للمستجير وعدّة المسكين

للمستجير وعدّة المسكين

You have become a treasure for the poor and a refuge

You have become a treasure for the poor and refuge

for those seeking protection, and support for the destitute.

For the seeker of refuge and provision for the deprived

ما رام شخصٌ فيك كيداً في الورى

إلا وأصبح في عذاب الهون

إلا وأصبح في عذاب الهون

No one among humankind has ever sought to plot against you

No person in the world schemed against You

without coming to suffer the torment of humiliation.

Except that he woke up in terrible torment
